Ultraviolet - The 2018 Color of the Year

It’s official! The PANTONE Color of the Year is Ultra Violet, and I don’t know about you, but I’m totally into it!

The PANTONE® name is known world-wide as the standard language for color communication from designer to manufacturer to retailer to customer. Each Spring, the Pantone Color Institute scours the globe for nine months searching for recurring patterns and colors in everyday life.

PANTONE describes ultra violet as communicating “originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us toward the future”. On a deeper note, PANTONE, also has this to say about its Color of the Year,  “Complex and contemplative, Ultra Violet suggests the mysteries of the cosmos, the intrigue of what lies ahead, and the discoveries beyond where we are now. The vast and limitless night sky is symbolic of what is possible and continues to inspire the desire to pursue a world beyond our own”.

To me, this color encompasses all of the above, plus, it’s also vibrant, lively and a catalyst for sparking imagination and creativity.

Ultra violet has already made its appearance on runways across the globe, in print ads and television commercials. While I definitely love seeing the color in fashion (and can’t wait to grab a few ultra violet pieces for myself), I’m particularly obsessed with the influence that it’s having on interior design.

From furniture, to walls, to accent pieces, there’s definitely a place for ultra violet in your home. I scoured the internet, and though incredibly gorgeous, ultra violet can completely overpower a room if you aren’t careful.
