Uber Purchases Office Space at Warrior's Chase Center

Uber has purchased office space at the under-construction commercial space on Third Street, part of the massive Mission Bay project that includes the Warrior's new digs, the Chase Center Arena.

In addition to the arena, which seats 18,000 spectators and is scheduled to open in 2019, the project also includes 580,000 square feet of office space. It appears Uber has bought up approximately half of the commercial space, according to the Business Times. In its entirety, the Chase Center Project spans 11 acres of land.

Uber seems to be following the Warrior's lead in vacating Oakland as, with this move, they have decided to locate the majority of their workforce to San Francisco's Mission Bay rather than house the approximately 3,000 employees in a historic building in Oakland.

In 2015, Uber announced the creation of their own Mission Bay headquarters on a 14-acre site previously owned by Salesforce. Currently under construction, the new 423,000-square-foot headquarters for the car service company will consist of a six-story building at 1515 Third Street as well as an 11-story mid-rise at 1455 Third, near Pierpont Lane designed by New York Architect, SHoP. Along Third Street, SHoP is designing small-scale retail spaces on the building's ground floor. They also plan to refurbish the small city park on Pierpont, where a new daycare center will be located.
